A Shinobi no Mono Blu-ray has been available in Japan for a few years but there hasn’t been a version with English subtitles until now.
Radiance Films is now offering a nice boxed set of the first 3 Shinobi no Mono films that features a 1080p video transfer, updated subtitles and several special features.
The quality of the video presentation of each of the three movies is much better than any I’ve seen before. The mono audio tracks have been cleaned up a bit but still suffer from the poor quality of the original audio sources.
Animeigo purchased the rights to the Shinobi no Mono films several years ago but it the company was acquired and they are no no longer offering the films on DVD with English subtitles. They could be purchased individually or in a set. Animeigo always did a great job with their translations and releases. Check out the archived extensive liner notes for the films at their archive website.
It seems like the remainder of the films are available commercially with English subtitles on various DVD releases but the quality may vary. If you know of a commercial source for these, please contact us.
Hi guys,
As Shinobi No Mono is easily available on YouTube, I am very interested to hear your view regarding, if the copyright would be enforceable?
Thanks
Simon
I believe there are several “versions” of the films on YouTube. I do not know enough about copyright laws to speak with any authority but they appear and disappear over time so it’s likely that the copyright holders are requesting these to be removed.
